The significance of the traditional art of weaving in Central Asia

The weaving of IKAT fabrics is an ancient tradition deeply rooted in the history of Central Asia. It has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. Along the historic Silk Road also lies the valley, in which the fabric for this unique cosmetic pouch was woven.

The tradition of handweaving is cherished and cultivated in almost every Uzbek family. The intricate craft requires the collaboration of three masters for three essential steps: the design of the pattern, the dyeing of the precious silk and cotton threads and finally the actual weaving of the fabric.

When designing her fabrics, Aleksandra Jagdfeld is always inspired by traditional Uzbek patterns and creates each fabric with care and respect for the heritage of Uzbek culture.

How are you supporting traditional craftmanship in Uzbekistan with this cosmetic pouch?

Traditional looms are narrow, which means that manufacturing any product requires a considerable amount of fabric. Consequently, many weaving mills are transitioning to machines to expedite production, resulting in the gradual decline of this traditional craftmanship.

Despite the shift towards machine production, ALEKSANDRAVIKTOR has made a conscious decision to work exclusively with traditional weaving mills, where the fabrics are made by hand in the old tradition. With this cosmetic bag, you are therefore not just buying a handmakde work of art - but also a piece of living history. Every purchase helps to keep the future of this invaluable handcraft in Uzbekistan alive.

  • Are you pregnant or breastfeeding and wondering whether you should use our CBD-containing products during this time?

First of all: Congratulations - you are about to experience the miracle of life up close! Unfortunately, this also means that at this point in time we cannot recommend our products to you with a clear conscience. This is not because CBD is known to harm your child; but rather that the research on this particular point is still not enough to say. This means that even if negative effects have not yet been observed, it cannot be ruled out that this could still happen in the future. The well-being of our customers is always our top priority. Until the last doubt is dispelled, it will stay that way: We cannot recommend any products containing CBD to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
